Yochanan (יוחנן) the immerser proclaiming the Message

(Matt 3:1-12; Mark 1:1-18; Yochanan (יוחנן) 1:19-28)

3:1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberios Kaisar, Pontios Pilatos being governor of Yehudah, and Herodes being tetrarch of Galil, and his brother Philippos tetrarch of Itouraios (Yetur - יטוּר) and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lusanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

3:2 Anan and Kayafas being the Kohenim Gedolim, Dvar Elohim came to Yochanan (יוחנן) Ben  Z'kharYah in the wilderness.

3:3 And he came into all the country about Yarden, proclaiming ha tevilah (immersion) Teshuvah (repentance) for the selichat avon (remission of sins);

3:4 As it is written in the sefer Divrei Yeshayah ha Navi, saying:

The voice of one crying in the wilderness:

"Prepare the way of YHVH (יהוה), make His paths straight."

3:5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

3:6  And all flesh shall see the salvation of Elohim.

3:7  Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be immersed by him, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

3:8  Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of teshuvah (repentance), and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Avraham (אברהם) to [our] father: for I say to you, That Elohim is able of these stones to raise up children to Avraham (אברהם).

3:9 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."

3:10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

3:11 He answered and said to them:

"He that has two ketonet (כּתנ), let him give to him who has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise."

3:12 Then came also mochesim (tax collectors) to be tevilah (immersed) of teshuvah, and said to him, Rabbi, what shall we do?

3:13 And he said to them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.

3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse [any] falsely; and be content with your wages.

3:15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of Yochanan (יוחנן), whether he were the Mashiach, or not;

3:16  Yochanan (יוחנן) answered, saying to [them] all, I indeed immerse you with water; but one mightier than I comes, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall immerse you with the Ruach HaKodesh (רוח הקדש) and with fire:

3:17  Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

3:18  And many other things in his exhortation proclaimed he to the people.

3:19  But Herodes the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philippos's wife, and for all the evils which Herodes had done,

3:20  Added yet this above all, that he shut up Yochanan (יוחנן) in prison.

Yochanan (יוחנן) immerses Yeshua (ישוע)

(Matt 3:1-12; Mark 1:1-18; Yochanan (יוחנן) 1:19-28)

3:21 Now when all the people were tevilah (immersed), it came to pass, that Yeshua (ישוע) also being tevilah, and praying, the shamayim was opened,

3:22 And the Ruach HaKodesh (רוח הקדש) descended upon Him in a bodily (somatikos geshem) form like a yonah (dove- יונה) upon , and a Voice came from shamayim, saying:

"Atah Ben Ahuvi Asher Becha Chafatsti"

"Thou are My Beloved Son; in Thee I AM well pleased (My delight)."
