Yeshua Teaches purpose of Marriage
Marriage Keeping in faith till death doth apart
(Matt 5:27-32; Mark 10:1-12; Luke 16:18; Romans 7:1-3; 1 Corinthians 7)
19:1 And it came to pass, [that] when Yeshua (ישוע) had finished these sayings, he departed from Galil, and came into the coasts of Yehudah beyond Yarden;
19:2 And great multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there.
Two schools:- Hillel n Shammai
19:3 The P'rushim also came unto Him, tempting Him, and saying unto Him, Is it mutar (permissible) for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,
19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they two shall be ONE flesh?
19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but ONE flesh. What therefore Eloah hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
19:7 They say unto Him, Why did Mosheh then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
19:8 He saith unto them, Mosheh because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
19:10 His taught ones say unto Him, If the case of the man be so with [his] wife, it is not good to marry.
19:11 But he said unto them, All [men] cannot receive this saying, save [they] to whom it is given.
19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from [their] mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the Malkut Shamayim's sake. He that is able to receive [it], let Him receive [it].
Who will enter HaShem's Kingdom?
Children showing in faith (childlike faith)
(Mark 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17)
19:13 Then were there brought unto Him little children, that he should put [his] hands on them, and pray: and the taught ones rebuked them.
19:14 But Yeshua (ישוע) said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto Me: for of such is the Malkut Shamayim.
19:15 And he laid [his] hands on them, and departed thence.
Mistakes of the Rich Young Man
19:16 And, hinnei, one came and said unto Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
19:17 And he said unto Him, Why callest thou Me tov? [there is] none tov but one, [that is], EL: but if thou wilt enter into life of the world to come, keep the commandments of EL.
19:18 He saith unto Him, Which? Yeshua (ישוע) said, "Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,"
19:19 Honour thy father and [thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
19:20 The young man saith unto Him, "All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? "
19:21 Yeshua (ישוע) said unto Him, "If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in shamayim: and come [and] follow Me."
19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
19:23 Then said Yeshua (ישוע) unto His taught ones, Truly I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the Malkut Shamayim.
19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier to pass a large rope through the eye of the needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Malkut Elohim.
19:25 When His taught ones heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
19:26 But Yeshua (ישוע) beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with Elohim all things are possible.
The Shliach's reward now and in the future Malkut
Talmidim's rewarding for faith
(Mark 10:28-31; Luke 18:28-30)
19:27 Then answered Kefa and said unto Him, hinnei, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
19:28 And Yeshua (ישוע) said unto them, "Truly I say unto you, That ye which have followed Me, in the regeneration when BEN ADAM shall sit in the throne of His kavod, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the Shneym Asar Shivtei Yisrael.
19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My Name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life."
Perseverance in Faith till the end
19:30 But many [that are] first shall be last; and the last [shall be] first.
19:8 "because of the hardness of your heart" What does this phrases mean?
The Scripture states that a man may put away his wife if she does not please Him. One hotly contested topic by Yeshua's time was what it meant by "did not please Him." Hillel's school held that if he is not happy with her (eg. if she burnt his food), he could divorce her. Shammai's school held that it could only be in real serious matters of inolerable hardship or cruelty (eg. she committed adultery which breaks the family unit and is a breaking of one of the 10 comandments). Yeshua agrees with Shammai's school in this regard.
The Bible does allow divorce and remarriage in certain exceptional cases. It would be unfair to the innocent party otherwise. For the Torah is to bring life and not death. It is not meant to punish the innocent but the evildoer.
Some people tried to use this passage as a loophole. It seems that they were trying to use their own adultery to get out of a marriage and then remarry. Yeshua condemned this by saying that he who divorces one to marry another is guilty. The law was meant to protect the innocent not the guilty, so this was a wrong thing to do.
As believers, divorce should be the last thing on our minds. Marriage is a covenant till "death do us part." YHWH instituted marriage in the Garden and it is meant to be for keeps. He hates the putting away of the "wife of his youth." However, in the situation of adultery and hardship where one side refuses to repent and the innocent believer has tried their best and prayed about it and still the hardship continues, then divorce becomes the last resort. And in such a situation, remarriage is open to them but with proper counselling since hurts of the past must be properly healed before entering into another relationship. Prayerfully, we will never have to see it in our congregations!

19:16 Mistakes of the Rich Young man's perception to gain eternal life.
1. By merely consider Yeshua as just a good teacher not knowing Yeshua is YHWH (v 16)
2. His wrong perception about the way of eternal life supposing it could be earned by works (v. 17)
3. He thinks by merely shomer the commandment of EL (v 20), the test revealed to him of his failure.(v. 21)
4. He did not heeded the final words of Moshiach "come and follow me (v 21)
Salvation has always been by HaShem's unmerited favour to the sinner, through his faith in Moshiach's atoning sacrifice.
