1:1 Ya'akov, bond-slave (doulos) Elohim (אלהים) and of Adonay Yehoshua (יהושע) Mashiach, to Shneym Asar haShevatim (Twelve Tribes) which are scattered among ha goyim, Rejoice!
Temptation - Trials - testing needs to be endure
1:2 My achim (Brethren), count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations;
1:3 Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
1:4 But let patience have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of Elohim (אלהים), that gives to all liberally, and without reproach and it shall be given to him.
1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting. For he who doubts is like a wave the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of Adonay.
1:8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
1:9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
1:10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
1:11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
1:12 Blessed [is] the man that endures temptation: for when he is dokimos (approved), he shall receive the crown of life, which Adonay has promised to them that love him.
Temptation - need to be resisted
sin; hear not doer, being partial
1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted,
"I am being tempted by Elohim (אלהים)":
For Elohim (אלהים) cannot be tempted with evil, neither he himself tempts no one.
1:14 But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own ta'avah (lust), and enticed.
1:15 Then when ta'avah (lust) has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved Achim (brothers).
1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Avi haohrot (Father of lights) with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. .
1:18 Exercising His will He begat us by Dvar Emet (word of truth), that we might be a kind of Bikkurim (firstfruits) of His creatures.
1:19 Wherefore, my beloved achim (Brethren), let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger:
1:20 For the anger of man works not the tzedakah Elohim (אלהים).
1:21 Therefore laying aside all filthiness and abundance of evil, in meekness receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
1:24 For he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
1:25 But he who looks into the perfect Torah hacherut (liberty) and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
1:26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.
1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before Elohim (אלהים) and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the Olam Hazeh.
