9:1 In the first year of Dareyavesh the ben Achashverosh, of the seed of the Maday (מדי), which was made melekh over the realm of the Kasdiymah (Chaldeans);
9:2 In the first year of his malak I Daniyel (דניאל) understood by seferah the number of the years, whereof the Davar of YHWH (יהוה) came to Yirmeyahu ha Navi, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Yerushalayim.
9:3 And I set my face unto *YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים), to seek by tefillah and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
9:4 And I prayed unto YHWH (יהוה) Elohai, and made my confession , and said, O *YHWH (יהוה), the great and dreadful Elohim (אלהים), shomer Ha Brit ve ha Chesed (mercy) to them that love Him, and to them that shomrei His Mitzvot
9:5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from Thy mitzvot (precepts) and from Thy mishpatim (judgments):
9:6 Neither have we hearkened unto Thy eved the Neviim, which spake in thy name to our melekhim, our sarim (princes), and Avot, ve kol am ha Eretz.
9:7 O *YHWH (יהוה), tzedakah [belongeth] unto Thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Yehudah, and to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, and unto all Yisrael, [that are] near, and [that are] far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
9:8 O *YHWH (יהוה), to us [belongeth] confusion of face, to our melekhs, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9:9 To *YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu [belong] mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
9:10 Neither have we obeyed the kol YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu, to walk in His Torat, which he set before us by His eved the Neviim.
9:11 Yea, all Yisrael have transgressed thy Torah, even by departing, that they might not obey thy kol; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that [is] written in the Torah Mosheh the eved of Elohim (אלהים), because we have sinned against him.
9:12 And he hath confirmed his davar, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole shamayim hath not been done as hath been done upon Yerushalayim.
9:13 As [it is] written in the Torah Mosheh, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our tefillah before YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
9:14 Therefore hath YHWH (יהוה) watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu [is] Tzadiyk (צדּיק) in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his kol.
9:15 And now, O *YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu, that hast brought thy people forth out of the Eretz Mitzrayim with a mighty yad (hand), and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
9:16 O *YHWH (יהוה), according to all thy tzedakah, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Yerushalayim, thy kodesh mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Yerushalayim and thy people [are become] a reproach to all [that are] about us.
9:17 Now therefore, O Eloheinu, hear the tefillah of thy eved, and his tachanunim (supplications), and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for *YHWH (יהוה)'s sake.
9:18 O Elohai, incline thine ear, and shema; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by Thy Name: for we do not present tachanuneinu (our supplications) before thee for our tzidkoteinu, but for thy great mercies.
9:19 O *YHWH (יהוה), Shama; O *YHWH (יהוה), forgive; O *YHWH (יהוה), hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O Elohai (אלהים): for thy city and Thy people are called by thy name.
The Seventy Weeks (Sheva Shavua)
9:20 And whiles I [was] speaking (davar), and praying(palal), and confessing(yadah) my sin and the sin of my people Yisrael, and presenting my supplication before YHWH (יהוה) Elohai for the kodesh mountain of Elohai;
9:21 Yea, while I [was] speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriyel (גּבריאל), whom I had seen in the chazon at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening minchah.
9:22 And he informed [me], and talked with me, and said, O Daniyel (דניאל), I am now come forth to give thee skill and binah.
9:23 At the beginning of thy tachanunim (supplications) the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew [thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the chazon.
*9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy kodesh city, 1to finish the transgression, and 2to make an end of sins, and 3to make reconciliation for iniquity, and 4to bring in everlasting tzedak, and 5to seal up the chazon and Naviy, and 6to anoint the most kodesh.
9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Yerushalayim unto the Moshiayah the Prince [shall be] sheva shavua, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Moshiayah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
9:27 And 7he shall confirm the Brit with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the minchah to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations (shikkutz) he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate (shamem).

9:24- 27 Seventy weeks This is one of the most important and controversial prophecies in the scriptures. Daniyel (דניאל) had been praying about the rebuilding of Yerushalayim and the return of his people. YHWH gave Daniyel (דניאל) a time frame for his dealings with Yisrael. Vs 24 is the key to understanding the prophecy. (Badmidbar 14:34; Yechezkel 4:6, Yirmiyahu 30)
