3:1(iv) Now Mosheh kept the flock of Yitro his khoten (father-in-law), the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of Elohim, [even] to Horev.
3:2 And the ma'lak YHWH (יהוה) Ra'ah (appeared) unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed.
3:3 And Mosheh said:
I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
3:4 And when YHWH (יהוה) saw that he turned aside to see, Elohim called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Mosheh, Mosheh. And he said, Here [am] I.
3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest [is] Kadosh Adamah.
3:6 Moreover he said, I [am] the Elohim of thy father, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitz'chak, and the Elohim of Yaakov. And Mosheh hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon Elohim.
3:7 And YHWH (יהוה) said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which [are] in Mitzrayim, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Mitzrites, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Kenaanites, and the Hittites, and the Emori, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Yevusites.
3:9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the benai Yisrael is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Mitzrites oppress them.
3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Paroh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the benai Yisrael out of Mitzrayim.
3:11 And Mosheh said unto Elohim, Who [am] I, that I should go unto Paroh, and that I should bring forth the benai Yisrael out of Mitzrayim?
3:12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this [shall be] a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Mitzrayim, ye shall serve Elohim upon this mountain.
3:13 And Mosheh said unto Elohim, Behold, [when] I come unto the benai Yisrael, and shall say unto them, The Elohim of your avot hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say unto them?
3:14 And Elohim said unto Mosheh:
Eh-heh-yeh ashair Eheh-yeh (I AM THAT I AM):
and He said:
"Thus shalt thou say unto the benai Yisrael, I AM hath sent me unto you."
3:15 And Elohim said moreover unto Mosheh:
Thus shalt thou say unto the benai Yisrael, YHWH (יהוה) Elohim of your avot, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitz'chak, and the Elohim of Yaakov, hath sent me unto you: this [is] MY NAME forever, and this [is] my memorial unto all generations.
3:16 (v) Go, and gather the Ziknei Yisrael together, and say unto them, YHWH (יהוה) Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, of Yitz'chak, and of Yaakov, Ra'ah (appeared) unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and [seen] that which is done to you in Mitzrayim:
3:17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Mitzrayim unto the land of the Kena'ani, and the Hittites, and the Emori, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Yevusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
3:18 And they shall hearken to thy Kol (voice): and thou shalt come, thou and the Ziknei Yisrael, unto the king of Mitzrayim, and ye shall say unto him, YHWH (יהוה) Elohim of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to YHWH (יהוה) our Elohim.
3:19 And I am sure that the king of Mitzrayim will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
3:20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Mitzrayim with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
3:21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Mitzrites: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
3:22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put [them] upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Mitzrites.
In the Seder has a Messianic Jewish perspective, it celebrates two stories of freedom:
|
The Exodus from Mitzrayim |
The Exodus from
slavery to our |
|
HaShem sends Mosheh to perform signs and wonders. HaShem himself leads the Yisraelites from slavery, takes them through the Yam Suf to security, calls them his people, and asks to dwell in their midst. This was the beginning of Yisra'el being a nation. |
HaShem sends Yeshua to perform signs and wonders. HaShem himself leads people from slavery, takes them through an immersion to security, calls them his people, and indwells them with a new kind of life. This was the beginning of the spiritual Kingdom of HaShem being established on earth. |
