10:1(i) And YHWH (יהוה) said unto Mosheh:
Go in unto Paroh:
For I have hardened his lev, and the lev of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
10:2 And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Mitzrayim, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that ANI YHWH (יהוה).
10:3 And Mosheh and Aharon came in unto Paroh, and said unto him,
Thus saith YHWH (יהוה) Elohei haIvrim:
How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before Me?
Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
10:4 Else, if thou refuse to Let My people go, hinei, to morrow will I bring the arbeh (locusts, אבה) into thy coast:
10:5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
10:6 And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Mitzrites; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Paroh.
10:7 And Paroh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve YHWH (יהוה) their Elohim: knowest thou not yet that Mitzrayim is destroyed?
10:8 And Mosheh and Aharon were brought again unto Paroh: and he said unto them,
Go, serve YHWH (יהוה) your Elohim: [but] who [are] they that shall go?
10:9 And Mosheh said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we [must hold] a feast unto YHWH (יהוה).
10:10 And he said unto them, Let YHWH (יהוה) be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look [to it]; for evil [is] before you.
10:11 Not so: go now ye [that are] men, and serve YHWH (יהוה); for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Paroh's presence.

10:12 And YHWH (יהוה) said unto Mosheh:
Stretch out thine hand over the eretz of Mitzrayim for the arbeh (locusts, אבה), that they may come up upon the eretz of Mitzrayim, and eat every herb of the land, [even] all that the hail hath left.
10:13 And Mosheh stretched forth his rod over the eretz of Mitzrayim, and YHWH (יהוה) brought an east wind upon the eretz all that day, and all [that] night; [and] when it was morning, the east wind brought the arbeh (locusts, אבה).
10:14 And the arbeh (locusts, אבה) went up over all the eretz of Mitzrayim, and rested in all the coasts of Mitzrayim: very grievous [were they]; before them there were no such arbeh (locusts, אבה) as they, neither after them shall be such.
10:15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the eretz was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the eretz of Mitzrayim.
10:16 Then Paroh called for Mosheh and Aharon in haste; and he said, I have sinned against YHWH (יהוה) your Elohim, and against you.
10:17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat YHWH (יהוה) your Elohim, that he may take away from me this death only.
10:18 And he went out from Paroh, and intreated YHWH (יהוה).
10:19 And YHWH (יהוה) turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the arbeh (locusts, אבה), and cast them into the Yam Suf; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Mitzrayim.
10:20 But YHWH (יהוה) hardened Paroh's lev, so that he would not let the children of Yisrael go.

10:21 And YHWH (יהוה) said unto Mosheh:
Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the eretz of Mitzrayim, even darkness [which] may be felt.
10:22 And Mosheh stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the eretz of Mitzrayim three days:
10:23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days:
but all the children of Yisrael had light in their dwellings.
10:24(iii) And Paroh called unto Mosheh, and said, Go ye, serve YHWH (יהוה); only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
10:25 And Mosheh said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto YHWH (יהוה) our Elohim.
10:26 Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve YHWH (יהוה) our Elohim; and we know not with what we must serve YHWH (יהוה), until we come thither.
10:27 But YHWH (יהוה) hardened Paroh's lev, and he would not let them go.
10:28 And Paroh said unto him:
Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in [that] day thou seest my face thou shalt die.
10:29 And Mosheh said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.
Locust (Gryllus migratorius), Heb. ARBeH - Arbeh occurs (Shemot 10:4-19) in the account of the plague of locusts; in the phrase "as locusts for multitude" (Jdg 6:5; 7:12); "more than the locusts .... innumerable" (Jer 46:23); "The locusts have no king.
Locusts are instruments of the wrath of Elohim (Ex 10:4-19; Dt 28:38,42; 2 Ch 7:13; Ps 78:46; 105:34; Nah 3:15-17; The Wisdom of Shlomo 16:9; Rev 9:3); they typify an invading army (Jer 51:14,27); they are compared with horses (Joel 2:4; Rev 9:7); in Job 39:20
The Israeli cookbook includes directions on how to prepare locusts: “Heat the oven and when very hot, switch it off. Put the locusts in the hot oven and leave for half a day. Locusts are “prepared by being slightly roasted, dried in the sun and salted.” It also notes that in addition to the head, wings and legs, the intestines are often removed and “only the fleshy portion is eaten”
