13:1(vii)
And YHWH (יהוה) spake unto Mosheh, saying:
13:2 Set apart as Kadesh unto Me all the Bachor, whatsoever openeth the womb among the benai Yisrael, [both] of man and of beast: it [is] Mine.
13:3 And Mosheh said unto the people:
Remember this day, in which ye came out from Mitzrayim, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand YHWH (יהוה) brought you out from this [place]:
There shall no chametz lechem be eaten.
13:4 This day came ye out in the month Aviv.
13:5 And it shall be when YHWH (יהוה) shall bring thee into the eretz of the Kena'ani, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Yevusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a eretz flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
13:6 Seven days thou shalt eat matzah, and in the seventh day [shall be] a feast to YHWH (יהוה).
13:7 Matzah shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no chametz lechem be seen with thee, neither shall there be chametz seen with thee in all thy quarters.
13:8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, [This is done] because of that [which] YHWH (יהוה) did unto me when I came forth out of Mitzrayim.
13:9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that YHWH (יהוה)'S Torah may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath YHWH (יהוה) brought thee out of Mitzrayim.
13:10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his Moed (appointed Time) from year to year.
13:11 And it shall be when YHWH (יהוה) shall bring thee into the eretz of the Kena'ani, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,
13:12 That thou shalt set apart unto YHWH (יהוה) all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males [shall be] YHWH (יהוה)'S.
13:13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the Bachor of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.
13:14(Maftir) And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What [is] this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand YHWH (יהוה) brought us out from Mitzrayim, from the house of bondage:
13:15 And it came to pass, when Paroh would hardly let us go, that YHWH (יהוה) slew all the Bachor in the eretz of Mitzrayim, both the Bachor of man, and the Bachor of beast: therefore I sacrifice to YHWH (יהוה) all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the Bachor of My children I redeem.
13:16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand YHWH (יהוה) brought us forth out of Mitzrayim.
13:17(i)
And it came to pass, when Paroh had let the people go,
that Elohim led them not [through] the way of the eretz of the
Pelishtim, although that [was] near; for Elohim said:
"The people might change their minds when they see war, and return to Mitzrayim."
13:18
But Elohim led the people about, [through] the way of the
midbar of the Yam Suf: and the benai
Yisrael went up
harnessed out of the eretz of Mitzrayim.
13:19
And Mosheh took the bones of Yosef with him: for he
swear unconditionally the benai Yisrael, saying, Elohim will surely
visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
13:20 And they took their journey from Sukkot, and encamped in Etam, in the edge of the midbar.
13:21
And YHWH (יהוה) went before them by day in a pillar of a
cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire,
to give them light; to go by day and night:
13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, [from] before the people.
Bachor bachor , firstling of men and women of animals noun of relation (fig.) Elohim had saved the bachor of Yisraelites from death in Mitzrayim, therefore the bachor of Humans and of animals were to be consecrated to YHWH (יהוה) as belonging to Him. The bachor sons became Kohanim, speak of dedication to YHWH (יהוה),
Remember this day - Zakar this day refer Aviv 15 -The day that gave them a national existence and introduced them into the privileges of independence and freedom, deserved to live in the memories of the Hebrews and their posterity; and, considering the signal interposition of Elohim displayed in it, to be held not only in perpetual, but devout remembrance.

13:17 - From the land of Goshen, where the Israeli people lived, to the southern edge of the land of the Phlistim, it is approximately one hundred forty (140) miles. The most direct route (which is the route which Scripture indicates that they did not use) between the Land of Goshen and Mount Sinai is two hundred forty (240) miles; and then it is about another one hundred forty (140) miles to Kadesh Barnea. This brings the total to about three hundred eighty (380) miles going the way that YHWH led them, as opposed to the shortest route which would only have been about one hundred forty (140) miles.
YHWH led them to Mount Sinai in about 45 days (give or take a day or two). If they would make five and one-half miles a day, it would take them about forty-four days to get to Mount Sinai. Using that same average of 5.5 miles per day, it would only have taken them about one month to get to the Promised Land. But, not only did YHWH lead them by a further route in distance, but also in time. YHWH led them directly to Mount Sinai (about 45 days journey), and they stayed there for two years and two months. Then they set out for the southern edge of the Land at Kadesh Barnea. But, because of the incident with the twelve spies (the people believed the evil report of the majority [10] of spies rather than those who were speaking YHWH’s words [the two spies]), the result was that they were not able to enter the Land for another thirty-eight (38) years.
