And YEHOVAH (יהוה) spoke to Mosheh, saying:
13:2 "Set apart to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among Benai Yisrael, both of man and of beast: it is Mine."
13:3 And Mosheh said to the people:
Remember this day, in which you came out from Mitzrayim, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand YEHOVAH (יהוה) brought you out from this place:
There shall no chametz lechem be eaten.
13:4 This day came you out in the month Aviv.
13:5 And it shall be when YEHOVAH (יהוה) shall bring you into the land of the Kena'ani, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Yevusites, which he sware to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.
13:6 Seven days you shall eat matzah, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to YEHOVAH (יהוה).
13:7 Matzah shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no chametz lechem be seen with you, neither shall there be chametz seen with you in all your quarters.
13:8 And you shall shew your son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which YEHOVAH (יהוה) did to me when I came forth out of Mitzrayim.
13:9 And it shall be for a sign to you upon your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that YEHOVAH (יהוה)'S you may be in your mouth: for with a strong hand hath YEHOVAH (יהוה) brought you out of Mitzrayim.
13:10 you shall therefore keep this ordinance in his Moed (appointed Time) from year to year.
13:11 And it shall be when YEHOVAH (יהוה) shall bring you into the land of the Kena'ani, as he sware to you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,
13:12 That you shall set apart to YEHOVAH (יהוה) all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that comes of a beast which you have; the males shall be YEHOVAH (יהוה)'S.
13:13 And every firstling of an ass you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you wilt not redeem it, then you shall break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among your children shall you redeem.

13:14(Maftir) And it shall be when your son asketh you in time to come, saying, What is this? that you shall say to him, By strength of hand YEHOVAH (יהוה) brought us out from Mitzrayim, from the house of bondage:
13:15 And it came to pass, when Paroh would hardly let us go, that YEHOVAH (יהוה) slew all the firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to YEHOVAH (יהוה) all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of My children I redeem.
13:16 And it shall be for a token upon your hand, and for frontlets between your eyes: for by strength of hand YEHOVAH (יהוה) brought us forth out of Mitzrayim. 35, 110 and 141.

13:17(i)
And it came to pass, when Paroh had let the people go,
that Elohim led them not [through] the way of the land of the
Pelishtim, although that was near; for Elohim said:
"The people might change their minds when they see war, and return to Mitzrayim."
13:18
But Elohim led the people about, through the way of the
midbar of the Yam Suf: and Benai
Yisrael went up
harnessed out of the land of Mitzrayim.
13:19
And Mosheh took the bones of Yosef with him: for he
swear unconditionally the benai Yisrael, saying, Elohim will surely
visit you; and you shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
13:20 And they took their journey from Sukkot, and encamped in Etam, in the edge of the midbar.
13:21
And YEHOVAH (יהוה) went before them by day in a pillar of a
cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire,
to give them light; to go by day and night:
13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
firstborn firstborn , firstling of men and women of animals noun of relation (fig.) Elohim had saved the firstborn of Yisraelites from death in Mitzrayim, therefore the firstborn of Humans and of animals were to be consecrated to YEHOVAH (יהוה) as belonging to Him. The firstborn sons became Kohanim, speak of dedication to YEHOVAH (יהוה),
Remember this day - Zakar this day refer Aviv 15 -The day that gave them a national existence and introduced them into the privileges of independence and freedom, deserved to live in the memories of the Hebrews and their posterity; and, considering the signal interposition of Elohim displayed in it, to be held not only in perpetual, but devout remembrance.

13:17 - From the land of Goshen, where the Israeli people lived, to the southern edge of the land of the Phlistim, it is approximately one hundred forty (140) miles. The most direct route (which is the route which Scripture indicates that they did not use) between the Land of Goshen and Mount Sinai is two hundred forty (240) miles; and then it is about another one hundred forty (140) miles to Kadesh Barnea. This brings the total to about three hundred eighty (380) miles going the way that YEHOVAH led them, as opposed to the shortest route which would only have been about one hundred forty (140) miles.
YEHOVAH led them to Mount Sinai in about 45 days (give or take a day or two). If they would make five and one-half miles a day, it would take them about forty-four days to get to Mount Sinai. Using that same average of 5.5 miles per day, it would only have taken them about one month to get to the Promised Land. But, not only did YEHOVAH lead them by a further route in distance, but also in time. YEHOVAH led them directly to Mount Sinai (about 45 days journey), and they stayed there for two years and two months. Then they set out for the southern edge of the Land at Kadesh Barnea. But, because of the incident with the twelve spies (the people believed the evil report of the majority [10] of spies rather than those who were speaking YEHOVAH’s words [the two spies]), the result was that they were not able to enter the Land for another thirty-eight (38) years.
