Parashah 22: Vayak'hel (He assembled) 35:1-38:20

Shabbat Regulations

35:1 (i) וַיַּקְהֵ֣ל מֹשֶׁ֗ה אֶֽת־כָּל־עֲדַ֛ת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֑ם אֵ֚לֶּה הַדְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה לַעֲשֹׂ֥ת אֹתָֽם׃

Vayak'hel Mosheh, et-kol-'adat benei Yisra'el vayomer aleihem; eleh hadevarim, asher-tzivah Adonai la'asot otam:

MOSHEH GATHERED all the congregation of the Yisraelites together and said to them, These are the things which Adonai has commanded that you do:

35:2 שֵׁ֣שֶׁת יָמִים֮ תֵּעָשֶׂ֣ה מְלָאכָה֒ וּבַיֹּ֣ום הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י יִהְיֶ֨ה לָכֶ֥ם קֹ֛דֶשׁ שַׁבַּ֥ת שַׁבָּתֹ֖ון לַיהוָ֑ה כָּל־הָעֹשֶׂ֥ה בֹ֛ו מְלָאכָ֖ה יוּמָֽת׃

Sheshet yamim te'aseh melachah uvayom hashevi'i, yihyeh lachem kodesh shabat shabaton lAdonai kol-ha'oseh vo melachah yumat.

Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day shall be to you a Set apart, a Shabbat of rest to Adonai; whoever works shall be put to death.

35:3 לֹא־תְבַעֲר֣וּ אֵ֔שׁ בְּכֹ֖ל מֹשְׁבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם בְּיֹ֖ום הַשַּׁבָּֽת׃

Lo-teva'aru esh, bechol moshevoteichem; beyom haShabat.

“Do not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Yom haShabbat.”

35:4 And Mosheh said to all the congregation of the Yisraelites, This is what Adonai commanded:

35:5 קְחוּ מֵאִתְּכֶם תְּרוּמָה לַיְהֹוָה כֹּל נְדִיב לִבּוֹ יְבִיאֶהָ אֵת תְּרוּמַת יְהֹוָהזָהָב וָכֶסֶף וּנְחֹשֶת׃

Kechu me'itechem terumah lAdonai kol nediv libo yevi'eha et terumat Adonai zahav vachesef unechoshet.

Take from among you a contribution to Adonai. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring Adonai's contribution: gold, silver, and bronze;

35:6 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' [hair],

35:7 And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,

35:8 And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,

35:9 And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the choshen (breastplate).

35:10 וְכׇל-חֲכַם-לֵב בָּכֶם יָבֹאוּ וְיַעֲשׂוּ אֵת כׇּל-אֲשֶר צִוָּה יְהֹוָה׃

Vechol-chacham-lev bachem yavo'u veya'asu et chol-'asher tzivah Adonai

And every man that is wise in heart among you, let him come and work all things whatsoever Adonai has commanded.

35:11 The mishkan, his ohel (tent), and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,

35:12 The ark, and the staves thereof, [with] the kapporet, and the Poreket (vail, curtain) of the covering,

35:13 The table, and his staves, and all his vessels, and the Lechem Panim,

35:14 The menorah also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light,

35:15 And the incense mizbeach (altar), and his staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle,

35:16 The mizbeach (altar) of olah, with his nechoshet (brazen) grate, his staves, and all his vessels, the kiyor (laver) and his foot,

35:17 The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court,

35:18 The pins of the mishkan, and the pins of the court, and their cords,

35:19 The cloths of service, to do service in the kodesh [place], the kodesh garments for Aharon the kohen, and the garments of his son, to minister in the kohen's office.

35:20 And all the congregation of Benai Yisrael departed from the presence of Mosheh.

35:21 (LY:ii)

וַיָּבֹאוּ כׇּל-אִיש אֲשֶר-נְשָׂאוֹ לִבּוֹ וְכֹל אֲשֶר נָדְבָה רוּחוֹ אֹתוֹ הֵבִיאוּאֶת-תְּרוּמַת יְהֹוָה לִמְלֶאכֶת אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּלְכׇל-עֲבֹדָתוֹ וּלְבִגְדֵי הַקֹּדֶש׃

Vayavo'u chol-'ish asher-nesa'o libo vechol asher nadevah rucho oto hevi'u et-terumat Adonai limlechet ohel mo'ed ulechol-'avodato ulevigdei hakodesh.

And everyone whose heart lifted him up and everyone whose spirit moved him came, and they brought the contribution to Adonai for the work of the Tent of Appointment, and for all its service, and for the Set-apart garments.

35:22 And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, [and] brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered [offered] an Contribution of gold to Adonai.

35:23 And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' [hair], and red skins of rams, and badgers' skins, brought [them].

35:24 Every one that did offer an Contribution of silver and brass brought Adonai'S Contribution: and every man, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought [it].

35:25 And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, [both] of blue, and of purple, [and] of scarlet, and of fine linen.

35:26 And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats' [hair].

35:27 And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the choshen (breastplate);

35:28 And spice, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.

35:29 כׇּל-אִיש וְאִשָּה אֲשֶר נָדַב לִבָּם אֹתָם לְהָבִיא לְכׇל-הַמְּלָאכָה אֲשֶר צִוָּהיְהֹוָה לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּיַד-מֹשֶה הֵבִיאוּ בְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל נְדָבָה לַיְהֹוָה׃

Chol-'ish ve'ishah asher nadav libam otam lehavi lechol-hamelachah asher tzivah Adonai la'asot beyad-Mosheh hevi'u venei-yisra'el nedavah lAdonai

Benai Yisrael brought a willing Contribution to Adonai, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which Adonai had commanded to be made by the hand of Mosheh.

35:30 (RY:ii, LY:iii)

And Mosheh said to Benai Yisrael, See, Adonai has called by name Bezalel Ben Uri, Ben Chur, of the tribe of Yehudah;

35:31 And he has filled him with the spirit of Elohim, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;

35:32 And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

35:33 And in the cutting of stones, to set [them], and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.

35:34 And He hath put in his heart that he may teach, [both] he, and 'Oholiy'av Ben 'Achiysamach, of the tribe of Dan.

35:35 Them has He filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, [even] of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.
