12:1 And the men of Efrayim gathered themselves together, and went Tzafon, and said unto Yiftach, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against Benai Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine bayit upon thee with fire.
12:2 And Yiftach said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with Benai Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
12:3 And when I saw that ye delivered [me] not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against Benai Ammon, and YHWH (יהוה) delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
12:4 Then Yiftach gathered together all the men of Gil'ad, and fought with Efrayim: and the men of Gil'ad smote Efrayim, because they said, Ye Gil'adis [are] fugitives of Efrayim among the Efrayimites, [and] among the M'nasheh.
12:5 And the Gil'adis took the passages of Yarden before the Efrayimites: and it was [so], that when those Efrayimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gil'ad said unto him, [Art] thou an Efrayimite? If he said, Nay;
12:6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce [it] right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Yarden: and there fell at that time of the Efrayimites arba'im (40) and two thousand.
12:7 And Yiftach judged Yisrael six shanah (years). Then died Yiftach the Gil'adi, and was buried in [one of] the cities of Gil'ad.
Ibzan the tenth Judges (7 years)
12:8 And after him Ibzan of Beit Lechem judged Yisrael.
12:9 And he had shloshim (30) banim, and shloshim (30) banot, [whom] he sent abroad, and took in shloshim (30) banot from abroad for his banim. And he judged Yisrael seven shanah (years).
12:10 Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Beit Lechem.
12:11 And after him Elon, a Zevulonite, judged Yisrael; and he judged Yisrael ten shanah (years).
12:12 And Elon the Zevulunite died, and was buried in Ayalon in the country of Zevulun.
Abdon, the twelfth judge (8 years)
12:13 And after him Abdon Ben Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Yisrael.
12:14 And he had arba'im (40) banim and shloshim (30) nephews, that rode on shibim (70) and ten donkeys: and he judged Yisrael eight shanah (years).
12:15 And Abdon Ben Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the Eretz Efrayim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
