32:1אשׁרי נשׂוי־פשׁע כסוי חטאה׃

Ashrei nesui-pesha kesui chataah:  

Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. 

32:2 אשׁרי אדם לא יחשׁב יהוה לו עון ואין ברוחו רמיה׃

Ashrei adam lo yakhshov YEHOVAH lo avon veein berukho remiyah:

Happy is the man to whom YEHOVAH (יהוה) does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

32:3 כי־החרשׁתי בלו עצמי בשׁאגתי כל־היום׃

Ki-hekherashti balu atzamai beshaagati kol-hayom:  

When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long.

32:4 כי יומם ולילה תכבד עלי ידך נהפך לשׁדי בחרבני קיץ סלה׃

Ki yomam valailah tikhbad alai yadekha nehpakh leshadi bekharvonei kayitz Selah:

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah

32:5 חטאתי אודיעך ועוני לא־כסיתי אמרתי אודה עלי פשׁעי ליהוה ואתה נשׂאת עון חטאתי סלה׃

Chatati odiakha vaavoni lo-khisiti amarti odeh alei feshaai laYEHOVAH veatah nasata avon chatati Selah:

I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to YEHOVAH (יהוה)," And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

32:6 על־זאת יתפלל כל־חסיד אליך לעת מצא רק לשׁטף מים רבים אליו לא יגיעו׃

Al-zot yitpalel kol-chasid eleikha leet metzo rak leshetef mayim rabim elav lo yagiu:

For this cause everyone who is pious shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him.

32:7 אתה סתר לי מצר תצרני רני פלט תסובבני סלה׃

Atah seter li mitzar titzreni ranei falet tesovveni Selah: 

You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

32:8 אשׂכילך ואורך בדרך־זו תלך איעצה עליך עיני׃

Askilkha veorkha bederekh-zu telekh iatzah aleikha eini:

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

32:9 אל־תהיו כסוס כפרד אין הבין במתג־ורסן עדיו לבלום בל קרב אליך׃

Al-tihyu kesus kefered ein havin bemeteg-varesen edyo livlom bal kerov eleikha

Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.

32:10 רבים מכאובים לרשׁע והבוטח ביהוה חסד יסובבנו׃

Rabim makhovim larasha vehaboteakh baYEHOVAH chesed yesovvenu:  

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in YEHOVAH (יהוה), mercy shall surround him.

32:11שׂמחו ביהוה וגילו צדיקים והרנינו כל־ישׁרי־לב׃

Simkhu vaYEHOVAH vegilu tzadikim veharninu kol-yishrei-lev:

Be glad in YEHOVAH (יהוה) and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

·       Emotional Experience – happy / blessed due to personal circumstance

·         Relational status – idea of a superior bestowing favour on another ΰ Elohim bestowing blessing on His children Ephesios 1:3

·       Practical Blessedness as in Tehillim 1 blessings flowing from righteous walk or conduct Note:- Need not be happy at all times eg Tehillim 94:12 Blessed is the man You discipline, O Yah, And instruct out of Your Torah,

Tehillimm 1 deals with two men of two destiny, two choices – to righteous walk while the wicked ways. The righteous walk though not perfect but sin less.

What is Sin? is – vs 1, 2

Many words use in the Tenakh to describe sin.

·       Transgression – defiance 1 Yochanan 3:4 Hebrew word – Pesha – action transgression rebellion against individual, nation Elohim. Brit Hadashah anomia without law against law, lawlessness.

·       Sin - defect Hebrew – Chattah sin / sin offering, to miss the way / mark.

·       Iniquity – distortion – Hebrew - avon moral aspects – perversity depravity crooked. Brit Hadashah Paranomia – against the Torah

·       Guile – deception deceit Hebrew remiyah – treachery deceit Brit Hadashah – Dolos deceit crafty

How sin is dealt with in vs 1, 2

·       Forgiven – nesui lift and carry away burden of sin roll away

·       Covered, - Kesui – kacah out of sight / covered blemish of sin covered – Kapparah

·       Not imputed – chashab not charged, or brought to account – book debited deducted erased – Sin debited and righteousness credited Romaios 4:6-8

Note:- there is no mention of works! It is all grace through faith Ephesios 2:8,9 Levitical offerings show these functions, a shadow of the perfect sacrifice of Mashiach. Yochanan 1:29 (taketh away); 1 Kefa 2:24 (bare our sins in His (Yeshua) body); Romaios 4:6 (Elohim imputeth righteousness)

What sin does – The price of practice sin 3-4

·       Sick – physically (bone waxed), conscience / mental / emotional (roaring) Ps 51, 22:1 Haughty but haunted

·       Sad 4a (Elohim’s heavy hand) – hands to protect (Yochanan 10:28,29) Uplift press down

·       Sapped v 4 b – dry and weary – no vitality, no life.

·       Selah – musical term – pause.

What is the remedy for sin – vs 5

ό Confession – I agree with Elohim / Admit – David “I have sinned (1 Shemuel 12:13 Loukas 15:18)

ό Sinner’s prayer

ό Our Confession – 1 Yochanan 1:9

ό Reflection – meditate, think about it, quite time, recall

The Undershepherd instructs as in vs 6-7

Ψ Pray against temptation / trials 6 -ΰ while He may be found – prayer away / day of grace?

Ψ Preservation 7a – hiding place, refuge

Ψ Peace – 7 b from trouble,

Ψ Praise – 7c Songs of Deliverance

Ψ Selah – Meditate, reflection, think about it, recall

The Shepherd instructs – Chasidic – set apart ones 8-11

v Guided – 8a His Word, 8b His eye 1 Kefa 3;12; Hebrews 12:2

v Governed 9 - two sides of coin- guided or governed, A horse will not stay; A mule will not move – Bridle governs both.

The Selah / Pause of life

Vs Ύ (conviction), 5 (confession), 6/7 (confidence) Selah undershepherd appear within vs 1-8, reexamine once motive, judge ourselves, and reflection of confession – Yah’s mercy.
