28:1 And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Tzidkiyah melekh Yehudah, in the fourth year, [and] in the fifth (Av) month, [that] Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) Ben Azur ha Navi, which [was] of Gibon (גּבעון), spake unto me in ha bayit YHWH (יהוה), in the presence of the Kohanim and of all the people, saying,
28:2 Thus speaketh YHWH (יהוה) Tza'vot, Elohei Yisrael, saying, I have broken the yoke of melekh Bavel.
28:3 Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of YHWH (יהוה)'S house, that Nevukadnetztzar (נבוּכדנאצּר) melekh Bavel took away from this place, and carried them to Bavel:
28:4 And I will bring again to this place Yeconyah Ben Yehoyakim melekh Yehudah, with all the captives of Yehudah, that went into Bavel, declares YHWH (יהוה): for I will break the yoke of melekh Bavel.
28:5 Then ha Navi YirmeYahu said unto ha Navi Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) in the presence of the Kohanim, and in the presence of all the people that stood in ha bayit YHWH (יהוה),
28:6 Even ha Navi YirmeYahu said, Amen: YHWH (יהוה) do so: YHWH (יהוה) perform thy Devarim which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of YHWH (יהוה)'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Bavel into this place.
28:7 Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people;
28:8 ha Neviim that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
28:9 ha Navi which prophesieth of shalom, when Dvar ha Navi shall come to pass, [then] shall ha Navi be known, that YHWH (יהוה) hath truly sent him.
28:10 Then Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) ha Navi took the yoke from off ha Navi YirmeYahu's neck, and brake it.
28:11 And Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith YHWH (יהוה); Even so will I break the yoke of Nevukadnetztzar (נבוּכדנאצּר) melekh Bavel from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And ha Navi YirmeYahu went his way.
28:12 Then Dvar YHWH (יהוה) came unto YirmeYahu [ha Navi], after that Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) ha Navi had broken the yoke from off the neck of ha Navi YirmeYahu, saying,
28:13 Go and tell Chananyahu (חנניהוּ), saying, Thus saith YHWH (יהוה); Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.
28:14 For thus saith YHWH (יהוה) Tza'vot, Elohei Yisrael; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nevukadnetztzar (נבוּכדנאצּר) melekh Bavel; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.
28:15 Then said ha Navi YirmeYahu unto Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) ha Navi, Hear now, Chananyahu (חנניהוּ); YHWH (יהוה) hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.
28:16 Therefore thus saith YHWH (יהוה); hinneh, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against YHWH (יהוה).
28:17 So Chananyahu (חנניהוּ) ha Navi died the same year in the seventh (Tishri) month.
