yerushalayim falls:

Tzedkiyahu take to Babylon

(cf 2 Melekhim 25:1-7; 2 Chronicles 36:17-21; Yirmeyahu 52:4-17)

39:1 In the ninth year of Tzidkiyah melekh Yehudah, in the tenth (Tevet) month, came Nevukadnetztzar melekh Bavel and all his army against Yerushalayim, and they besieged it.

39:2 [And] in the eleventh year of Tzidkiyah, in the fourth (Tammuz) month, the ninth [day] of the month, the city was broken up.

39:3 And all the sarim of melekh Bavel came in, and sat in the middle gate, [even] Nergal Sar-Etzer, Samgar-Nevo, Sar-Sechim, Rav Saris, Nergal Sar-Etzer, Rav-Mag, with all the residue of the sarim of melekh Bavel.

39:4 And it came to pass, [that] when Tzidkiyah melekh Yehudah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of ha melekh's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

39:5 But the Kasdim' army pursued after them, and overtook Tzidkiyah in the plains of Yericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nevukadnetztzar (נבוּכדנאצּר) melekh Bavel to Riblah in ha eretz Hamat, where he gave judgment upon him.

39:6 Then melekh Bavel slew benai Tzidkiyah in Rivlah before his eyes: also melekh Bavel slew all the nobles of Yehudah.

39:7 Moreover he put out Tzidkiyah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Bavel.

39:8 And the Kasdim burned ha melekh's bayit, and the batim of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Yerushalayim.

39:9 Then Nevuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Bavel the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

39:10 But Nevuzar-Adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in ha eretz Yehudah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

Yirmeyahu released from prison

39:11 Now Nevukadnetztzar melekh Bavel gave charge concerning YirmeYahu to Nevuzar-Adan the captain of the guard, saying,

39:12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

39:13 So Nevuzar-Adan the captain of the guard sent, and Nevushasban, Rav Saris, and Nergal Sar-Etzer, Rav-Mag, and all melekh Bavel's sarim;

39:14 Even they sent, and took YirmeYahu out of the Khatzer (courtyard) of the guard, and committed him unto Gedalyah Ben Ahikam Ben Shafan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

39:15 Now Dvar YHWH (יהוה) came unto YirmeYahu, while he was shut up in the Khatzer (courtyard) of the bayit hakeleh (prison), saying,

39:16 Go and speak to Eved-Melekh ha  Kushi, saying, Thus saith YHWH (יהוה) Tza'vot, Elohei Yisrael; hinneh, I will bring my Devarim upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be [accomplished] in that day before thee.

39:17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith YHWH (יהוה): and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou [art] afraid.

39:18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, declares YHWH (יהוה).
