VaYikra - The Third Book of Moshe
Name of the Book:
The name "Leviticus" describes the contents of the books as the Torah of the priests, the sons of Levi, and characterizing it as a YHWH's Instruction Manual for the ritual of the old covenant principally associated with what in the New Covenant is called the Levitical priesthood (Heb 7:11)
Purpose:
A handbook for the Cohen and Levites outlining their duties in worship, and a guidebook of holy living. VaYikra is a book of Atonement and a holy living.

At the foot of Mount Sinai. G_d is teaching the Israelites how to live as holy people.
