12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say to His Talmidim first of all, Beware you of the chametz of the Prushim, which is tzeviut (hypocrisy).

12:2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

12:3 Therefore whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in closet shall be proclaimed upon the roof tops.

12:4 And I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

12:5 But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear:

Fear Him, which after he has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear Him.

12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before Elohim?

12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear not therefore:

you are of more value than many sparrows.

12:8 Also I say to you:

Whosoever shall confess Me before men, him shall the Son of Man also confess before the malakhim of Elohim:

12:9 But he that denies Me before men shall be denied before the malakhim of Elohim.

12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that blaspheme against the Ruach HaKodesh it shall not be forgiven.

12:11 And when they bring you to the Shul, and [to] manhigim (magistrates), and powers, take you no thought how or what thing you shall answer, or what you shall say:

12:12 For the Ruach HaKodesh shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.

12:13 And one of the company said to him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

12:14 And he said to him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

12:15 And he said to them, “Take heed, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

12:16 And he spoke a mashal (parable משל ) to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

12:19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’

12:20 But Elohim said to him, [You] fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?

12:21 So [is] he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward Elohim.

12:22 And he said to His Talmidim, Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on.

12:23 The life is more than meat, and the body [is more] than raiment.

12:24 Consider the ravens:

For they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and Elohim feedeth them: how much more are you better than the fowls?

12:25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

12:26 If you then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take you thought for the rest?

12:27 Consider the lilies how they grow:

They toil not, they spin not; and yet I say to you, that Shlomo in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

12:28 If then Elohim so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more [will he clothe] you, O you of little faith?

12:29 And seek not you what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be you of doubtful mind.

12:30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that you have need of these things.

12:31 Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's tov pleasure to give you the malkut.

12:33 Sell that you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the shamayim that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.

12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and [your] lights burning;

12:36 And you yourselves like to men that wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately.

12:37 Blessed [are] those avadim, whom the master when he comes shall find watching:

Amein I say to you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

12:38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third watch, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants!

12:39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into.

12:40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

12:41 Then Kefa said to him, Adon, speak you this mashal (parable משל ) to us, or even to all?

12:42 And the Master said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?

12:43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.

12:44 Of a truth I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all that he has.

12:45  But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,

12:46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful.

12:47 And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating.

12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few [stripes]. For to whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

12:49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

12:50 But I have a immersion to be immersed with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

12:51 Suppose you that I am come to give shalom on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

12:52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in Torah against her daughter in Torah, and the daughter in Torah against her mother in Torah.

12:54 And he said also to the people, When you see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway you say, There comes a shower; and so it is.

12:55 And when [you see] the south wind blow, you say, There will be heat; and it comes to pass.

12:56 [You] hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time?

12:57 Yes, and why even of yourselves judge you not what is right?

12:58 When you goes with your adversary to the magistrate, [as you are] in the way, give diligence that you may be delivered from him; lest he hale you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison.

12:59 I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny.”
