Yehoshua (יהושע) heals metzorah

(Mark 1:40 - 45; Luke 5:12-16)

8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

8:2 And, Hinnei, there came metzorah (a leper) and worshipped him, saying, Adonay, if you wilt, you canst make me tahor.

8:3 And Yehoshua (יהושע) put forth [his] hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be you tahor. And immediately his Tzaraath (leprosy) was tahor.

8:4 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to him:

See you tell no man; but go your way, shew thyself to the kohen, and offer the gift that Mosheh gave mitzvah, for a eidut to them.

Healing a Centurion's servant (Luke 7:1-10; Yochanan 4:43-54)

8:5 And when Yehoshua (יהושע) was entered into K'far-Nachum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him,

8:6 And saying, Adonay, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

8:7 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to him:

I will come and heal him.

8:8 The centurion (hekatontarches) answered and said, Adon, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.

8:9 For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

8:10 When Yehoshua (יהושע) heard [it], he marvelled, and said to them that followed,

Truly I say to you:

I have not found so great faith, no, not in Yisrael.

8:11 And I say to you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Avraham, and Yitz'chak, and Ya'akov, in the malkhut shamayim.

8:12 But the children of the malkhut shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

8:13 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to the centurion:

Go your way; and as you hast believed, [so] be it done to thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Kefa's Mother-in-law is healed (Mark 1:29-34; Luke 4:38-41)

8:14 And when Yehoshua (יהושע) had come into Kefa's house. He saw his wife's mother having been laid up, and sick in bed with a fever.

8:15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him.

8:16 When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.

8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by YeshaYahu ha Navi, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare [our] sicknesses.

Following Yehoshua (יהושע)(Luke 9:57-62)

8:18 Now when Yehoshua (יהושע) saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart to the other side.

8:19 Then a scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go."

8:20 And Yehoshua (יהושע) said to him:

"Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but Ben Adam has nowhere to lay His head."

8:21 And another of His Talmidim said to Him, Adon, let me first to go and bury my father.

8:22 But Yehoshua (יהושע) said to him:

Follow Me; and let the dead bury their own dead.

Yehoshua (יהושע)have power over Storm (Mark 4:35-41; Luke 8:22-25)

8:23 And when he was entered into a ship, his Talmidim followed him.

8:24 And, Hinnei, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

8:25 And his Talmidim came to [him], and awoke him, saying, Adonay, save us: we perish.

8:26 And He said to them:

Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

8:27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Healing the Demon-Posssesed at Gergesenes (Mark 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39)

8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

8:29 And, Hinnei, they cried out, saying, "What have we to do with You, Yehoshua (יהושע), you Ben Elohim (אלהים)? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"

8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If you cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

8:32 And he said to them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, Hinnei, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

8:33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

8:34 And, Hinnei, the whole city came out to meet Yehoshua (יהושע): and when they saw him, they besought [him] that he would depart out of their coasts.

let the dead bury their own dead - Let the spiritually dead (those indifferent to their salvation) bury the physically dead. An unsaved person handle that kind of work. But there is a task which you alone can do. Give the best of your life to what really lasts. The true talmid must get his priorities straight.
