18:1 The Kohenim the Leviim, [and] all the shevet Levy, shall have no part nor nachalah (inheritance) with Yisra'el: they shall eat the offerings of Adonai made by fire, and his nachalah.
18:2 Therefore shall they have no nachalah among their brethren: Adonai [is] their nachalah, as he has said to them.
18:3 And this shall be the kohen's due from the people, from them that offer a zevach, whether [it be] ox or sheep; and they shall give to the kohen the shoulder, and the shenayim (two) cheeks, and the stomach.
18:4 The reshit (firstfruit) [also] of your corn, of your wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, shall you give him.
18:5 For Adonai Eloheicha has chosen him out of all your shevatim, to stand to minister in ha Shem Adonai, him and His banim forever.
18:6 And if a Levy come from any of your she'arim (gates) out of all Yisra'el, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind to the place which Adonai shall choose;
18:7 Then he shall minister in the Name of Adonai his Elohim, as all his brethren the Leviim [do], which stand there before Adonai.
18:8 They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which comes of the sale of his avi.
18:9 When you are come into the land which Adonai Eloheicha gives you, you shall not learn to do after the to'avot of those goyim.
18:10 There shall not be found among you [any one] that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
18:12 For all that do these things [are] an to'avat (detestable) to Adonai: and because of these to'avot (abominations) Adonai Eloheicha does drive them out from before you.
18:13 You shall be tamim (whole-hearted) with Adonai Eloheicha.
18:14 For these goyim, which you shall yaresh (possess ירשׁ), shama to observers of times, and to diviners: but as for you, Adonai Eloheicha has not suffered you so [to do].
18:15 The Adonai Eloheicha will raise up to you a Navi from the midst of you, of your brethren, like to me; to him you shall shema (listen);
18:16 According to all that you desired of Adonai Eloheicha in Horev in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not Shema again the voice of Adonai Elohav, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
18:17 And Adonai said to me, They have well [spoken that] which they have spoken.
18:18 I will raise them up a Navi from among their brethren, like to you, and will put My Devarim in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
18:19 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not shama (listen) to My Devarim which he shall speak in My Name, I will require [it] of him.
18:20 But the Navi, which shall presume to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that Navi shall die.
18:21 And if you say in your lev, How shall we know the word which Adonai has not spoken?
18:22 When a Navi speaks in the Name Adonai, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that [is] the thing which Adonai has not spoken, [but] the Navi has spoken it presumptuously: you shall not be afraid of him.
