(1 Kings 14:21-24)
12:1 And it came to pass, when Rechav'am (רחבעם) had established the malkut, and had strengthened himself, he forsook ha Torat YHWH (יהוה), and all Yisra'el with him.
12:2 And it came to pass, [that] in the fifth year of melekh Rechav'am (רחבעם) Shishak melekh Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalayim, because they had transgressed against YHWH (יהוה),
12:3 With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people [were] without number that came with him out of Mitzrayim; the Luvims, the Sukkiim, and the Kushim.
12:4 And he took the fenced cities which [pertained] to Yehudah, and came to Yerushalayim.
12:5 Then came Shemayah ha Navi to Rechav'am (רחבעם), and [to] the Sarim Yehudah, that were gathered together to Yerushalayim because of Shishak, and said unto them,
Thus saith YHWH (יהוה):
Ye have forsaken Me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
12:6 Whereupon the sarim Yisra'el and the melekh humbled themselves; and they said:
"The YHWH (יהוה) [is] righteous."
12:7 And when YHWH (יהוה) saw that they humbled themselves,
Dvar YHWH (יהוה) came to Shemayah, saying:
They have humbled themselves; [therefore] I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and My wrath shall not be poured out upon Yerushalayim by the hand of Shishak.
12:8 Nevertheless they shall be his avadim(servant) ; so that they may they may learn to differentiate My Avodah (service), and ha Avodat (service) Mamlekhot (kingdoms) ha aretzot (lands)
12:9 So Shishak melekh Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalayim, and took away the treasures of Beit YHWH (יהוה), and the treasures of the melekh's Beit; he took all: he carried away also the shields of zahav which Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) had made.
12:10 Instead of which melekh Rechav'am (רחבעם) made shields of brass, and committed [them] to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the melekh's Beit.
12:11 And when the melekh entered into Beit YHWH (יהוה), the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
12:12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of YHWH (יהוה) turned from him, that he would not destroy [him] altogether: and also in Yehudah things went well.
12:13 So melekh Rechav'am (רחבעם) strengthened himself in Yerushalayim, and reigned: for Rechav'am (רחבעם) [was] forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city which YHWH (יהוה) had chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra'el, to put his name there. And his mother's name [was] Naamah ha Amonit.
12:14 And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek YHWH (יהוה).
12:15 Now the acts of Rechav'am (רחבעם), first and last, [are] they not written in the book of Shemayah ha Navi, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And [there were] wars between Rechav'am (רחבעם) and Yarov’am continually.
12:16 And Rechav'am (רחבעם) slept with avotav, and was buried in the city of David: and Aviyah his son reigned in his stead.
