(1 Kings 15:1-7)
13:1 Now in the eighteenth year of melekh Yarov’am began Aviyah to reign over Yehudah.
13:2 He reigned three years in Yerushalayim. His mother's name also [was] Mikhayah Bat Uriyel of Giveah. And there was war between Aviyah and Yarov’am.
13:3 And Aviyah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, [even] four hundred thousand chosen men:
Yarov’am also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, [being] mighty men of valour.
13:4 And Aviyah stood up upon mount Tzemarayim, which [is] in mount Efrayim, and said, Hear me, thou Yarov’am, and all Yisra'el;
13:5 Ought ye not to know that YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisra'el gave the malkut over Yisra'el to David forever, [even] to him and to his banim by a Brit Melach (covenant of salt)?
13:6 Yet Yarov’am Ben Nevat, ha eved Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) Ben David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his adonav.
13:7 And there are gathered unto him vain men, children of beliyaal (worthless), and have strengthened themselves against Rechav'am (רחבעם) Ben Sh'lomo (שׁלמה), when Rechav'am (רחבעם) was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
13:8 And now ye think to withstand the malkut YHWH (יהוה) in the hand of ha Banim David; and ye [be] a great multitude, and [there are] with you golden calves, which Yarov’am made you for gods.
13:9 Have ye not cast out the Kohanim of YHWH (יהוה), ha Banim Aharon, and the Leviim, and have made you Kohanim after the manner of the nations of [other] lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, [the same] may be a Kohen of [them that are] no gods.
13:10 But as for us, YHWH (יהוה) [is] Eloheinu, and we have not forsaken him; and the Kohanim, which minister unto YHWH (יהוה), [are] ha Banim Aharon, and the Leviim [wait] upon [their] business:
13:11 And they burn unto YHWH (יהוה) every morning and every evening burnt zevakhim (sacrifices) and ketoret sammim (fragrant incense): the shewbread also [set they in order] upon the pure table; and the menorah of zahav with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of YHWH (יהוה) our Elohim (אלהים); but ye have forsaken him.
13:12 And, behold, Elohim (אלהים) himself [is] with us for [our] captain, and his Kohanim with sounding khatzotzrot (trumpets) to cry alarm against you. O benai Yisra'el, fight ye not against YHWH (יהוה) Elohei Avoteichem; for ye shall not prosper.
13:13 But Yarov’am caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Yehudah, and the ambushment [was] behind them.
13:14 And when Yehudah looked back, behold, the battle [was] before and behind: and they cried unto YHWH (יהוה), and the Kohanim sounded with the khatzotzrot (trumpets).
13:15 Then the men of Yehudah gave a shout: and as the men of Yehudah shouted, it came to pass, that Elohim (אלהים) smote Yarov’am and all Yisra'el before Aviyah and Yehudah.
13:16 And benai Yisra'el fled before Yehudah: and Elohim (אלהים) delivered them into their hand.
13:17 And Aviyah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Yisra'el five hundred thousand chosen men.
13:18 Thus benai Yisra'el were brought under at that time, and benai Yehudah prevailed, because they relied upon YHWH (יהוה) Elohei Avoteichem.
13:19 And Aviyah pursued after Yarov’am, and took cities from him, Beit-EL with the towns thereof, and Yeshanah with the towns thereof, and Efrayim with the towns thereof.
(1 Kings 15:25-31)
13:20 Neither did Yarov’am recover strength again in the days of Aviyah: and YHWH (יהוה) struck him, and he died.
13:21 But Aviyah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two banim, and sixteen daughters.
13:22 And the rest of the acts of Aviyah, and his ways, and his sayings, [are] written in the story of ha Navi Iddo.
