22:1 And the inhabitants of Yerushalayim made AkhazYahu (אחזיה) his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Aravim (Arabians) to the camp had slain all the eldest. So AchazYahu (אחזיה) Ben Yehoram (יהורם) melekh Yehudah reigned.
22:2 Forty and two years old [was] AchazYahu (אחזיה) when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Yerushalayim. His mother's name also [was] Atalyah Bat Omri.
22:3 He also walked in the ways of Beit Ach'av: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.
22:4 Wherefore he did evil in the sight of YHWH (יהוה) like Beit Ach'av: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.
22:5 He walked also after their counsel, and went with Yehoram (יהורם) Ben Ach'av melekh Yisra'el to war against Chatzael melekh Aram at Ramot Gil’ad: and the Aram smote Yoram.
22:6 And he returned to be healed in Yezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Chatzael melekh Aram. And Azaryah Ben Yehoram (יהורם) melekh Yehudah went down to see Yehoram (יהורם) Ben Ach'av at Yezreel, because he was sick.
22:7 And the destruction of AchazYahu (אחזיה) was of Elohim (אלהים) by coming to Yoram: for when he was come, he went out with Yehoram (יהורם) against Yehu Ben Nimshi, whom YHWH (יהוה) had anointed to cut off Beit Ach'av.
22:8 And it came to pass, that, when Yehu was executing judgment upon Beit Ach'av, and found the sarim Yehudah, and the Banim the brethren of AkhazYahu (אחזיה), that ministered to AchazYahu (אחזיה), he slew them.
22:9 And he sought AchazYahu (אחזיה): and they caught him, (for he was hid in Shomron,) and brought him to Yehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he [is] Ben Yehoshafat (יהושׁפט), who sought YHWH (יהוה) with all his heart. So Beit AchazYahu (אחזיה) had no power to keep still the Mamlakhah (kingdom).
22:10 But when Atalyah the mother of AkhazYahu (אחזיה) saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of Beit Yehudah.
22:11 But Yehoshavat(יהושׁבעת) bat ha melekh, took Yoash Ben AchazYahu (אחזיה), and stole him from among the king's banim that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Yehoshavat (יהושׁבעת), the daughter of king Yehoram (יהורם), the wife of Yehoyada ha Kohen, (for she was the sister of AkhazYahu (אחזיה), hid him from Atalyah, so that she slew him not.
22:12 And he was with them hid in Beit Elohim (אלהים) six years: and Atalyah reigned over the land.
