The book of Chronicles originally on large book, okkupies the last position in the Hebrew Scripture. The Hebrew title means "Journals" or more literally "Words of the Days".

At the first review 1 Chronicles seems to repeat 1 and 2 Shemuel and the 2nd Chronicles seems to cover the same material as 1 and 2 Kings.  Why is there yet another account of the same history?

The scrolls of Shemuel and Kings emphasize the historical side of thing whereas Chronicles emphasizes the spiritual aspect. Thus Chronicles focus on the reign of Davyid and his sucessors and on the temple and its worship. It gives details not previously found concerning Kohenm, Leviim, musicians, singers, and gatekeepers. Here are a few of the main lessons Hashem wanted to teach His people: The ten gentile nations that are enemies of Yisrael were the sons of Cham while the Benai Shem some of which are the goyim who took Yisrael into golus (captivities). Hashem chose those gentile who are Benai Shem to be take care golus of Yisrael.

  1. Obedience to Hashem always brings  blessing, victory, success and prosperity.
  2. Disobedience always brings judgment, defeat, curse and destruction.
  3. Repentance and make teshuvah to YHWH brings blessings again. Key verse 2 Chronicles 7:14
  4. One of Hashem's ways of teaching lessons is by repeating them. but from a different spiritual view point.
  5. The toldot  or genealogies ae not exact copies of the earlier ones. It's purpose to trace the royal line through David to Moshiach and Kohanim line because it was important that only the descendant of Aharon could serve as Kohanim of YHWH.
  6. The theme of Chronicles is the relation of Yehudah's Makhut and the Kohanim to Beit YHWH. It points forward to the coming Moshiach, Adonay Yeshua HaMoshiach, the Melekh ha Gadol (MattitYahu) and the Kohan HaGadol (Hebrews)
