Reuven's line to the captivity

(Barasheet 46:8,9)

5:1 Now Benai Reuven the bechorah Yisra'el, (for he [was] the bachor; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto Benai Yosef Ben Yisra'el: and the yachas (genealogy)is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

5:2 For Yehudah prevailed above his achim, and of him [came] the chief ruler; but the birthright [was] Yosef's:)

5:3 Benai, [I say], of Reuven the bechorah Yisra'el [were], Hanoch, and Pallu, Hetzron, and Karmi.

5:4 Benai Yo'el; Shema'yah beno, Gog beno, Shimei beno,

5:5 Mikah beno, Rea'ya beno, Baal beno,

5:6 Beerah beno, whom Tilgat-Piln'eser melekh of Ashshur carried away [captive]: he [was] prince of the Reuvenites.

5:7 And his achim by their families, when the yachas (genealogy) of their toldot was reckoned, [were] the chief, Yei'el, and Zekar'yah,

5:8 And Bela Ben Azaz, Ben Shema, Ben Yo'el, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nevo and Ba'al-meon:

5:9 And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river perat (Euphrates): because their cattle were multiplied in the eretz Gil'ad .

5:10 And in the days of Shaul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east [land] of Gil'ad .

5:11 And benai Gad dwelt over against them, in the eretz Bashan unto Salchah:

5:12 Yo'el the chief, and Shafam the next, and Yaanai, and Shafat in Bashan.

5:13 And their achim of the bayit of their avot [were], Micha'el, and Meshullam, and Sheva, and Yorai, and Yachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

5:14 These [are] benai Avihail Ben Huri, Ben Yaroah, Ben Gil'ad , Ben Mika'el, Ben Yeshishai, Ben  yahdo, Ben Buz;

5:15 Ahi Ben Abdi'el, Ben Guni, chief of the bayit of their avot.

5:16 And they dwelt in Gil'ad in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.

5:17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Yotam melekh of Yehudah, and in the days of Yarov'am melekh Yisra'el.

5:18 Benai Reuven, and the Gadites, and half the shevet (tribe) of Menasheh of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, [were] four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.

5:19 And they made war with the Hagarites, with Yetur, and Nefish, and Nodav.

5:20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that [were] with them: for they cried to Elohim (אלהים) in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

5:21 And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.

5:22 For there fell down many slain, because the war [was] of Elohim (אלהים). And they dwelt in their steads until the golus.

Benai Menasheh (East)

5:23 And benai the half shevet (tribe) of Menasheh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baal-hermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.

5:24 And these [were] the heads of the bayit of their avot, even Efer, and Yishi, and Eli'el, and Azri'el, and Yerem'yah, and Hodav'yah, and  yahdi'el, mighty men of valour, famous men, [and] heads of the bayit of their avot.

5:25 And they transgressed against the Elohim (אלהים) of their avot, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom Elohim (אלהים) destroyed before them.

5:26 And the Elohim (אלהים) of Yisra'el stirred up the spirit of Pul melekh of Ashshur , and the spirit of Tilgat-Piln'eser melekh of Ashshur , and he carried them away, even the Reuvenites, and the Gadites, and the half shevet (tribe) of Menasheh and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
