8:1 Then Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) assembled the Zekenim of Yisrael, and all the Rashei (heads) HaMattot (tribes), the Nesi'ei (chief of) ha avot of the benai Yisrael, unto melekh Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) in Yerushalayim, that they might bring up ha Aron the Brit YHWH (יהוה) out of the city of Daviyd (דּויד ), which [is] Zion.
8:2 And all the men of Yisrael assembled themselves unto melekh Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) at the feast in the month Ethanim (Tistrei), which [is] the seventh month.
8:3 And all the Zekenim of Yisrael came, and ha Kohenim took up the Aron.
8:4 And they brought up ha Aron YHWH (יהוה), and the Ohel Mo'ed, and all the kelei (vessel) hakodesh that [were] in the ohel (tent), even those did ha Kohenim and the Levi'im bring up.
8:5 And melekh Sh'lomo (שׁלמה), and all the congregation of Yisrael, that were assembled unto him, [were] with him before the aron, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
8:6 And ha Kohenim brought in ha Aron the Brit YHWH (יהוה) unto his makom , into the debir (oracle) ha bayit, to the kelei hakodesh under the kenafayim of the keruvim.
8:7 For the keruvim spread forth [their] two kenafayim (wings) over the makom of the Aron, and the keruvim covered the Aron and the staves thereof above.
8:8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the Kodesh before the debir (oracle), and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.
8:9 [There was] nothing in the Aron save the sheniyim Luchot haAvanim (two tables of stones), which Mosheh put there at Horev, when YHWH (יהוה) made [a covenant] with the benai Yisrael, when they came out of the eretz Mitzrayim.
8:10 And it came to pass, when ha Kohenim were come out of the Kodesh, that the cloud filled the bayit YHWH (יהוה),
8:11 So that ha Kohenim could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of YHWH (יהוה) had filled the bayit YHWH (יהוה).
Dedication 12 -21
8:12 Then spake Sh'lomo (שׁלמה), YHWH (יהוה) said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
8:13 I have surely built thee an bayit to dwell in, a settled makom (place) for thee to abide in for ever.
8:14 And the melekh turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Yisrael: (and all the congregation of Yisrael stood;)
8:15 And he said, Blessed [be] YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, which spake with his mouth unto Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi, and hath with his hand fulfilled [it], saying,
8:16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Yisrael out of Mitzrayim, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Yisrael to build an bayit, that My Name might be therein; but I chose Daviyd (דּויד ) to be over My People Yisrael.
8:17 And it was in the lev of Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi to build an bayit for ha Shem YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael.
8:18 And YHWH (יהוה) said unto Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi, Whereas it was in thine lev to build an bayit unto My Name, Thou didst well that it was in thine lev.
8:19 Nevertheless Thou shalt not build the bayit; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the bayit unto My Name.
8:20 And YHWH (יהוה) hath performed his Dvar that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi, and sit on the throne of Yisrael, as YHWH (יהוה) promised, and have built an bayit for ha Shem YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael.
8:21 And I have set there a makom (place) for the Aron, wherein [is] the Brit YHWH (יהוה), which he made with our avot, when he brought them out of the eretz Mitzrayim.
techinnah (supplication) 22 - 53
8:22 And Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) stood before the Mitzbe'ach (altar) of YHWH (יהוה) in the presence of all the congregation of Yisrael, and spread forth his hands toward Shamayim:
8:23 And he said, YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, [there is] no Elohim (אלהים) like thee, in Shamayim above, or on eretz beneath, who shomer covenant and mercy with thy avadim that halak before thee with all their levav:
8:24 Who hast kept with thy eved Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi that Thou promisedst him: Thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled [it] with thine hand, as [it is] this day.
8:25 Therefore now, YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, shomer with thy eved Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi that Thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Yisrael; so that thy banim take heed to their derek, that they halak before me as Thou hast walked before ME.
8:26 And now, O Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, let thy Dvar, I pray thee, be verified, which Thou spakest unto thy eved Daviyd (דּויד ) my avi.
8:27 But will Elohim (אלהים) indeed dwell on the eretz? hinnei, the Shamayim and Shamayim of Shamayim cannot contain thee; how much less this bayit that I have builded?
8:28 Yet have Thou respect unto the tefillah of thy eved, and to his techinnah (supplication), O YHWH (יהוה) my Elohim (אלהים), to hearken unto the cry and to the tefillah, which thy eved prayeth before thee to day:
8:29 That thine eyes may be open toward this bayit night and day, [even] toward the makom (place) of which Thou hast said, My Name shall be there: that Thou mayest hearken unto the tefillah which thy eved shall make toward this makom (place).
8:30 And hearken Thou to the techinnah of thy eved, and of thy people Yisrael, when they shall pray toward this makom (place): and hear Thou in Shamayim thy dwelling makom (place): and when Thou hearest, forgive.
8:31 If any man trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before thine Mitzbe'ach (altar) in this bayit:
8:32 Then hear Thou in Shamayim, and do, and shofat thy avadim, condemning the wicked, to bring his derek upon his head; and tzadak ha tzaddiyk, to give him according to his tzedakah.
8:33 When thy people Yisrael be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess Thy Name, and pray, and make techinnah unto thee in this bayit:
8:34 Then hear Thou in Shamayim, and forgive the sin of thy people Yisrael, and bring them again unto the eretz which Thou gavest unto their avot.
8:35 When Shamayim is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this makom (place), and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when Thou afflictest them:
8:36 Then hear Thou in Shamayim, and forgive the sin of thy avadim, and of thy people Yisrael, that Thou teach them the good derek wherein they should halak, and give rain upon thy eretz, which Thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
8:37 If there be in the eretz famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, [or] if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the eretz their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness [there be];
8:38 What tefillah and techinnah soever be [made] by any man, [or] by all thy people Yisrael, which shall know every man the plague of his own lev, and spread forth his hands toward this bayit:
8:39 Then hear Thou in Shamayim thy dwelling makom (place), and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his derek, whose lev Thou knowest; (for Thou, [even] Thou only, knowest the hearts of all the benai men;)
8:40 That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the eretz which Thou gavest unto our avot.
8:41 Moreover concerning a stranger, that [is] not of thy people Yisrael, but cometh out of a far country for thy name's sake;
8:42 (For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this bayit;
8:43 Hear Thou in Shamayim thy dwelling makom (place), and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the eretz may know thy name, to fear thee, as [do] thy people Yisrael; and that they may know that this bayit, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
8:44 If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever Thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto YHWH (יהוה) toward the city which Thou hast chosen, and [toward] the bayit that I have built for thy name:
8:45 Then hear Thou in Shamayim their tefillah and their techinnah (supplication), and maintain their cause.
8:46 If they sin against thee, (for [there is] no man that sinneth not,) and Thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the eretz the enemy, far or near;
8:47 [Yet] if they shall bethink themselves in the eretz whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make techinnah (supplication) unto thee in the eretz them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;
8:48 And [so] return unto thee with all their lev, and with all their nefesh, in the eretz their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their eretz, which Thou gavest unto their avot, the city which Thou hast chosen, and the bayit which I have built for thy name:
8:49 Then hear Thou their tefillah and their techinnah in Shamayim thy dwelling makom (place), and maintain their cause,
8:50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:
8:51 For they [be] thy people, and thine inheritance, which Thou broughtest forth out of Mitzrayim, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
8:52 That thine eyes may be open unto the techinnah of thy eved, and unto the techinnah (supplication) of thy people Yisrael, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.
8:53 For Thou didst separate them from among all the people of the eretz, [to be] thine inheritance, as Thou spakest by the hand of Mosheh thy eved, when Thou broughtest our avot out of Mitzrayim, Adonay (אדני) YHWH (יהוה).
Benediction 54 - 61
8:54 And it was [so], that when Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) had made an end of praying all this tefillah and techinnah (supplication) unto YHWH (יהוה), he arose from before the Mitzbe'ach (altar) of YHWH (יהוה), from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to Shamayim.
8:55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Yisrael with a loud voice, saying,
8:56 Blessed [be] YHWH (יהוה), that hath given rest unto his people Yisrael, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one Dvar of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Mosheh his eved.
8:57 YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu Immanu (be with us), as He was with avoteinu: let Him not leave us, nor forsake us:
8:58 That He may incline levavenu (our hearts) unto Him, to halak in all His derek, and to shomer His mitzvah, and His chukkot (statutes), and His mishpatim, which he commanded our avot.
8:59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made techinnah (supplication) before YHWH (יהוה), be nigh unto YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu day and night, that he maintain the cause of his eved, and the cause of his people Yisrael at all times, as the matter shall require:
8:60 That all the people of the eretz may know that YHWH (יהוה) [is] Elohim (אלהים), [and that there is] none else.
8:61 Let your lev therefore be perfect with YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu, to halak in his chukkot (statutes), and to shomer his mitzvah, as at this day.
8:62 And the melekh, and all Yisrael with him, offered sacrifice before YHWH (יהוה).
8:63 And Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) offered a sacrifice of Shelamin, which he offered unto YHWH (יהוה), two and twenty Thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty Thousand sheep. So the melekh and all the benai Yisrael dedicated the bayit YHWH (יהוה).
8:64 The same day did the melekh hallow the middle of the court that [was] before the bayit YHWH (יהוה): for there he offered olot, and Minchah, and the chelvei (fat) of the Shelamin: because the nekoshet Mitzbe'ach (altar) that [was] before YHWH (יהוה) [was] too little to receive the olot, and Minchah, and the chelvei (fat) of the Shelamin.
8:65 And at that time Sh'lomo (שׁלמה) held a feast, and all Yisrael with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Mitzrayim, before YHWH (יהוה) Eloheinu, seven days and seven days, [even] fourteen days.
8:66 On Yom HaShemini (eigthth day) he sent the people away: and they blessed the melekh, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of lev for all the goodness that YHWH (יהוה) had done for Daviyd (דּויד ) his eved, and for Yisrael his people.
