11:1 But melek Sh'lomo ahav(loved) nashim nokhriyyot rabbot (many strange women), together with Bat Paroh, women of the Moaviyyot, Ammoniyyot, Adomiyyot, Tzedeniyyot,[and] Chittiyyot,;

11:2 Of the nations [concerning] which YHWH (יהוה) said unto the benai Yisrael, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: [for] surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Sh'lomo clave unto these in love.

11:3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

11:4 For it came to pass, when Sh'lomo was old, [that] his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with YHWH (יהוה) his Elohim (אלהים), as [was] the heart of David his avi.

11:5 For Sh'lomo went after Ashtoret the goddess of the Tzidonim, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

11:6 And Sh'lomo did evil in the sight of YHWH (יהוה), and went not fully after YHWH (יהוה), as [did] David his avi.

11:7 Then did Sh'lomo build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Mo'av, in the hill that [is] before Yerushalayim, and for Molekh, the abomination of the benai Ammon.

11:8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

11:9 And YHWH (יהוה) was angry with Sh'lomo, because his heart was turned from YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, which had appeared unto him twice,

11:10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which YHWH (יהוה) commanded.

11:11 Wherefore YHWH (יהוה) said unto Sh'lomo:

Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my chukkot, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the malkut from thee, and will give it to thy eved.

11:12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: [but] I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

11:13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the malkut; [but] will give one tribe to thy son for David my eved's sake, and for Yerushalayim's sake which I have chosen. Kiv-Int-link.gifKiv-Int-link.gif

11:14 And YHWH (יהוה) stirred up an adversary unto Sh'lomo, Hadad the Edomite: he [was] of the king's seed in Edom.

11:15 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Yoav the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

11:16 (For six months did Yoav remain there with all Yisrael, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

11:17 That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's avadim with him, to go into Mitzrayim; Hadad [being] yet a little child.

11:18 And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Mitzrayim, unto Paroh melek Mitzrayim; which gave him a bayit, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

11:19 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Paroh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

11:20 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Paroh's bayit: and Genubath was in Paroh's household among the sons of Paroh.

11:21 And when Hadad heard in Mitzrayim that David slept with his avot, and that Yoav the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Paroh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.

11:22 Then Paroh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, hinnei, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

11:23 And Elohim (אלהים) stirred him up [another] adversary, Rezon Ben Eliadah, which fled from his adoni Hadadezer melek Zobah:

11:24 And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them [of Zobah]: and they went to Dammesek, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Dammesek.

11:25 And he was an adversary to Yisrael all the days of Sh'lomo, beside the mischief that Hadad [did]: and he abhorred Yisrael, and reigned over Aram.

11:26 And Yarov`am Ben Navat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Sh'lomo's eved, whose mother's name [was] Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up [his] hand against the melek.

11:27 And this [was] the cause that he lifted up [his] hand against the king: Sh'lomo built Millo, [and] repaired the breaches of the city of David his avi.

11:28 And the man Yarov`am [was] a mighty man of valour: and Sh'lomo seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the Beit Yoseph.

11:29 And it came to pass at that time when Yarov`am went out of Yerushalayim, that ha Navi Ahi'yah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two [were] alone in the field:

11:30 And Ahi'yah caught the new garment that [was] on him, and rent it [in] twelve pieces:

11:31 And he said to Yarov`am, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith YHWH (יהוה), the Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael, hinnei, I will rend the malkut out of the hand of Sh'lomo, and will give ten tribes to thee:

11:32 (But he shall have one tribe for my eved David's sake, and for Yerushalayim's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Yisrael:)

11:33 Because that they have forsaken Me, and have worshipped Ashtoret the goddess of the Tzidonim, Chemosh the god of the Mo'avites, and Milcom the god of the benai Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do [that which is] yashar in mine eyes, and [to keep] my chukkot and my judgments, as [did] David his avi.

11:34 Howbeit I will not take the whole malkut out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my eved's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my mitzvot and my chukkot:

11:35 But I will take the malkut out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, [even] ten tribes.

11:36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my eved may have a light alway before me in Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen me to put My Name there.

11:37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be melek over Yisrael.

11:38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do [that is] yashar in My sight, to keep My chukkot and My mitzvot, as David My eved did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure bayit, as I built for David, and will give Yisrael unto thee.

11:39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever.

11:40 Sh'lomo sought therefore to kill Yarov`am. And Yarov`am arose, and fled into Mitzrayim, unto Shishak melek Mitzrayim, and was in Mitzrayim until the death of Sh'lomo.

11:41 And the rest of the acts of Sh'lomo, and all that he did, and his wisdom, [are] they not written in the book of the acts of Sh'lomo?

11:42 And the time that Sh'lomo reigned in Yerushalayim over all Yisrael [was] forty years.

11:43 And Sh'lomo slept with his avot, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehovo'am his son reigned in his stead.
