2:1 אני חבצלת השׁרון שׁושׁנת העמקים׃

Ani khavatselet haSharon shoshanat haamakim:

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

{The Beloved}

2:2כשׁושׁנה בין החוחים כן רעיתי בין הבנות׃

Keshoshanah bein hakhokhim ken rayati bein habanot:

As the lily among thorns, so [is] my love among the daughters.

{The Shulamite}

2:3 כתפוח בעצי היער כן דודי בין הבנים בצלו חמדתי וישׁבתי ופריו מתוק לחכי׃

Ketapuakh baatzei hayaar ken Dodi bein habanim betzilo khimadti veyashavti ufiryo matok lekhiki 

As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

{The Shulamite to Banot Yerushalayim}

2:4הביאני אל־בית היין ודגלו עלי אהבה׃

Heviani el-beit hayayin vediglo alai ahavah:

He brought me into the house of wine, and his banner over me was love.

2:5סמכוני באשׁישׁות רפדוני בתפוחים כי־חולת אהבה אני׃

Samkhuni baashishot rapduni batapukhim ki-kholat ahavah ani:

Strengthen me! with the raisins, refresh me! with apples: for I am sick with love.

2:6שׂמאלו תחת לראשׁי וימינו תחבקני׃

His left hand [is] under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.

The Maiden's charge to the banot Yerushalayim

2:7 {Refrain}

השׁבעתי אתכם בנות ירושׁלם בצבאות או באילות השׂדה אם־תעירו ואם־תעוררו את־האהבה עד שׁתחפץ׃

Hishbati etkhem benot Yerushalayim bitzvaot o beailot hasade im-tairu veim-teorru et-haahavah ad shetekhpatz:

I charge you, O ye daughters of Yerushalayim, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake [my] dod (love), till he please.

The Shulamite Reminisces about a visit from her shepherd-lover,

interrupted by orders from her brothers to get to work (2:8-17)

2:8קול דודי הנה־זה בא מדלג על־ההרים מקפץ על־הגבעות׃

Kol dodi hineh-zeh ba medaleg al-heharim mekapetz al-hagevaot:

 The voice of my beloved, behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.

2:9 דומה דודי לצבי או לעפר האילים הנה־זה עומד אחר כתלנו משׁגיח מן־החלנות מציץ מן־החרכים׃

Domeh Dodi litzvi o leofer haayalim hineh-zeh omed akhar katlenu mashgiakh min-hakhalonot metzitz min-hakharakim

My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall; He is gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.

2:10ענה דודי ואמר לי קומי לך רעיתי יפתי ולכי־לך׃

Anah Dodi veamar li kumi lakh rayati yafati ulekhi-lakh:

My beloved spoke, and said to me:

{HE} "Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away.

2:11כי־הנה הסתו עבר הגשׁם חלף הלך לו׃

Ki-hineh hasetav avar hageshem khalaf halakh lo:

For, Behold, the winter is past, the rain is over [and] gone;

2:12הנצנים נראו בארץ עת הזמיר הגיע וקול התור נשׁמע בארצנו׃

Hanitzanim niru baeretz et hazamir higia vekol hator nishma beartzenu:

The flowers appear on the land; the time of the singing [of birds] is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

2:13התאנה חנטה פגיה והגפנים סמדר נתנו ריח קומי לכי רעיתי יפתי ולכי־לך׃

Hateenah khantah fageh yehagfanim semadar natnu reiakh kumi lakhi rayati yafati ulekhi-lakh:

The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away!  

2:14יונתי בחגוי הסלע בסתר המדרגה הראיני את־מראיך השׁמיעיני את־קולך כי־קולך ערב ומראיך נאוה׃

Yonati bekhagvei hasela beseter hamadregah hareini et-marayikh hashemiini et-kolekh ki-kolekh arev umarekh nave:

"O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret places of the cliff, Let me see thy face, Let me hear thy voice; For thy voice is sweet, And thy face is lovely."

2:15 אחזו־לנו שׁועלים שׁועלים קטנים מחבלים כרמים וכרמינו סמדר׃

Ekhezu-lanu shualim shualim ketanim mekhablim keramim ukherameinu semadar:

Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines [have] tender grapes.

{The Shulamite}

2:16 דודי לי ואני לו הרעה בשׁושׁנים׃

Dodi li vaani lo haroeh bashoshanim:

My Beloved [is] mine, and I [am] his: he feedeth among the lilies.

{to her Beloved}

2:17 עד שׁיפוח היום ונסו הצללים סב דמה־לך דודי לצבי או לעפר האילים על־הרי בתר׃

Ad sheyafuakh hayom venasu hatzelalim sov demeh-lekha Dodi litzvi o leofer haayalim al-harei vater:

Until the day breaks, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag upon the mountains of Beter.
