46:1
Lamnatzeakh livnei-korakh al-a lamot shir:
Elohim is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
46:2 Therefore will not we fear, Though the earth be removed, and Though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
46:3 [Though] the waters thereof roar [and] be troubled, [Though] the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
46:4 [There is] a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of Elohim (אלהים), the set apart [place] mishkan (dwelling place) of the Elyon (most High).
46:5 Elohim (אלהים) [is] in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: Elohim (אלהים) shall help her, [and that] right early.
46:6 The Goyim raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
46:7 YEHOVAH (יהוה) Tzvaot [is] with us; the Elohim (אלהים) of Yaakov [is] our refuge. Selah.
46:8 Halak, chazah (see) the works of YEHOVAH (יהוה), what desolations he hath made in the earth.
46:9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Harepu udeu ki-anokhi Elohim arum bagoyim arum baaretz:
Be still, and know that I AM Elohim (אלהים): I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Tzarot - A feminine noun meaning trouble, distress, anguish. It refers to a situation or a time of extreme discomfort, an affliction for many different reasons. Elohim delivers His people from this condition (Gen 35:3; Job 5:19; Psa 9:9). The pursuit of wisdom is also a refuge in a time of distress (Pro 1:27). Elohim is the author of destruction and distress in judgment on the earth (Isa 8:22; Jer 4:31). Daniel speaks of a final time of distress that will never be superseded (Dan 12:1). A feminine noun meaning a rival. It refers to a person who is threatening or a source of despair for various reasons (1Sa_1:6).
46:10 Harepu be still But the Hebrew word for still means “to cease striving.” It’s the concept of putting your hands down and letting Elohim intervene in your situation without your interference. This word picture is interesting, since we often use our hands to push things out of our way, to protect ourselves, or to strike back. When we drop our hands, it makes us feel defenseless and vulnerable—unless we can trust that “Elohim is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (v.1), and that “the Lord of hosts is with us; the Elohim of Yaakov is our refuge” (v.7). In other words, stop struggling and wait on Elohim to do His work! In the face of all of life’s circumstances, we can know the peace of trusting the presence and power of Elohim in the midst of trouble as we wait patiently and prayerfully for His deliverance. So drop your hands, for Elohim’s hands are busy on your behalf!
