14:1 And these [are the countries] which Benai Yisrael inherited in the land of Kenaan, which Eleazar ha Kohen, and Yehoshua Ben Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of Benai Yisrael, distributed for inheritance to them.
14:2 By lot [was] their inheritance, as YHWH (יהוה) commanded by the hand of Mosheh, for the nine tribes, and [for] the half matteh (tribe).
14:3 For Mosheh had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half matteh (tribe) on the other side Yarden: but unto the Leviim he gave none inheritance among them.
14:4 For Benai Yosef were two tribes, Menasheh and Efrayim: therefore they gave no part unto the Leviim in the land, save cities to dwell [in], with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
14:5 As YHWH (יהוה) commanded Mosheh, so Benai Yisrael did, and they divided the land.
14:6 Then Benai Yehudah came unto Yehoshua in Gilgal: and Kalev Ben Yefunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that YHWH (יהוה) said unto Mosheh the man of Elohim (אלהים) concerning me and thee in Kadesh-Barnea.
14:7 Forty years old [was] I when Mosheh the eved YHWH (יהוה) sent me from Kadesh-Barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as [it was] in mine heart.
14:8 Nevertheless my achim (brethren) that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed YHWH (יהוה) my Elohim (אלהים).
14:9 And Mosheh sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed YHWH (יהוה) my Elohim (אלהים).
14:10 And now, behold, YHWH (יהוה) hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since YHWH (יהוה) spake this word unto Mosheh, while [Benai] Yisrael wandered in the wilderness: and now, hinnei, I [am] this day eighty-five years old.
14:11 As yet I [am as] strong this day as [I was] in the day that Mosheh sent me: as my strength [was] then, even so [is] my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof YHWH (יהוה) spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be YHWH (יהוה) [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as YHWH (יהוה) said.
14:13 And Yehoshua put a bracha on him, and gave unto Kalev Ben Yefunneh Hevron for an inheritance.
14:14 Hevron therefore became the inheritance of Kalev Ben Yefunneh the Kenezite yom hazeh (unto this day), because that he wholly followed YHWH (יהוה) Elohim (אלהים) of Yisrael.
14:15 And the name of Hevron before [was] Kiryat-arba; [which Arba was] a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
