Moshiach as tzaddik Ruler

Hashem's remnant exhorted

Seven Portion of Consolation Haftarah reading - Haftarah

 Portion 1 | Portion 2 | Portion 3 | Portion 4 | Portion 5 | Portion 6 | Portion 7 |

51:1 Shema to Me, you that follow after tzeddek, you that seek ADONAI (יהוה): look to the rock [whence] you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit [whence] you are digged.

51:2 Look to Avraham Avichem, and to Sarah [that] bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

51:3 For ADONAI (יהוה) shall comfort Tzyon: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her midbar like Eden, and her desert like the garden of ADONAI (יהוה); joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

51:4 Attend to Me, O My people; and give ear to Me, O My nation: for a Torah shall proceed from Me, and I will make My misphat to rest for a Ohr Ammim (Light for the Nations).

51:5 My tzeddek [is] near; My salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall shofat the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

51:6 Lift up your eyes to the Shamayim, and look upon ha eretz beneath: for the Shamayim shall vanish away like smoke, and ha eretz shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but My salvation shall be le olam va ed, and my tzeddek shall not be abolished.

51:7 Shema to Me, you that know tzeddek, the people in whose lev [is] My Torah; fear you not the reproach of men, neither be you afraid of their revilings.

51:8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but My tzeddek shall be le olam va ed, and My salvation  from l'odor dorim (generation to generation).

51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of ADONAI (יהוה); awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. [Art] you not it that has cut Rahav, [and] wounded the dragon?

51:10 [Art] you not it which has dried the sea, the mayim of the great deep; that has made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

51:11 Therefore the redeemed of ADONAI (יהוה) shall return, and come with singing to Tzyon; and everlasting joy [shall be] upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; [and] sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

51:12 I, [even] I, [am] he that comforts you: who [are] you, that you should be afraid of a man [that] shall die, and of ben man [which] shall be made [as] grass;

51:13 And forgettest ADONAI (יהוה) your Maker, that has stretched forth the Shamayim, and laid the foundations of ha eretz; and have feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where [is] the fury of the oppressor?

51:14 He that is bent down shall speedily be loosed; and he shall not go down dying into the pit, neither shall his bread fail.

51:15 But I [am] ADONAI Eloheicha, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: ADONAI Tzavot [is] His Name.

51:16 And I have put My devari in your mouth, and I have covered you in the tzel (shadow) of My hand, that I may plant the Shamayim, and lay the foundations of ha eretz, and say to Tzyon, 'Thou [art] My people'.

Tzyon's failure forgiven

51:17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Yerushalayim, which have drunk at the hand of ADONAI (יהוה) the cup of his fury; you have drunken the dregs of the Kos HaTarelah (cup of trembling), [and] wrung [them] out.

51:18 [There is] none to guide her among all the sons [whom] she has brought forth; neither [is there any] that takes her by the hand of all the sons [that] she has brought up.

51:19 These two [things] are come to thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?

51:20 Thy banim have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of ADONAI (יהוה), the rebuke of Eloheicha.

51:21 Therefore hear now this, you afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:

51:22 Thus says your Adon, ADONAI (יהוה) and your Eloahim (אֱלֹהִים), Who pleads the cause of His people: “See, I have taken out of your hand The  kos harelah (cup of trembling), The dregs of the cup of My fury; You shall no longer drink it.

51:23 But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to your nefesh, Bow down, that we may go over: and you have laid your body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.
